Yom Teruah/Day of Trumpets
Yom Teruah, also called the Feast of Trumpets, is a sacred day of reflection, repentance, and celebration. Marked by the sounding of the shofar, it calls God’s people to awaken spiritually, examine their lives, and prepare their hearts for His kingdom.Traditionally beginning the High Holy Days, Yom Teruah reminds us of God’s kingship, His mercy, and the hope of restoration.

The Day of Trumpets is a day marked by sound—by the blowing of the shofar and the call to wake up, pay attention, and reflect. It is also known as Rosh Hashanah, often referred to as the beginning of the year. Tradition holds that the creation of the world took place on this day, giving it a deep sense of significance and renewal.
There is, of course, some debate around calling it the “New Year,” especially when looking closely at the biblical calendar. But as with so many things, taking the time to look a little deeper is helpful. Beyond titles, the heart of the day is about awakening, remembrance, and standing ready.
For believers, this feast also carries a strong prophetic hope. The sound of the trumpet is closely associated with the return of the Messiah—a call that signals gathering, restoration, and the fulfilment of God’s promises. In that sense, the Day of Trumpets looks both backward and forward: remembering creation, while anticipating redemption.
