Answering God’s Call
Sar-El
Stupendous opportunity to spend time in the Land amongst Jewish people who had come from many countries to give their physical support even for a short 2weeks.
We all questioned our actual physical usefulness....all around 65years ++! We were let loose in an enormous warehouse containing shelves of used kitbags.(We were near Sderot at Ureem! ....the name was not lost on us and was a Blessing in itself..... not long after a period of conflict!)
The bags needed sorting and correct items needed to be in each bag.
In fact it required a reasonable level of fitness and strength ...climbing ladders and hurling items around!!
The older members of our group were given less strenuous tasks.
It was tedious but so well spent.
We worked as a team enjoying each other's company and hard work.
I was the only Christian believer and Britisher in the group and had to commit to refrain from any evangelism. It was ok in general conversation to state my Faith identity.
Our bunk room and meal times at the military base were times of good friendly chat and some respectful sharing .
Most precious comment from an older Jewish lady: " had heard about people like you, Christians who stand with Israel, but you are the first one I have met."....It was spoken with warmth and appreciation.
