ZIONISM

Zionism is the modern return of the Jewish people to their ancestral homeland—a return rooted not only in history, but in identity, memory, and covenant. For the Jewish people, Zionism is not merely a political movement; it is the restoration of a people to their land, language, and national life after centuries of exile, persecution, and longing for Jerusalem.

From a Christian perspective, Zionism is often understood through the lens of Scripture and God’s enduring promises to Israel. Many believers see the return of the Jewish people to the land as consistent with the biblical narrative of restoration and redemption, and as an invitation for the nations to respond with humility, love, and support—rather than ownership or reinterpretation.

While Jewish and Christian understandings of Zionism are not identical, they can meet in shared reverence for the faithfulness of God, the significance of the Land of Israel, and the call to stand against antisemitism and forgetting. This space explores Zionism thoughtfully, honouring the Jewish story while helping Christians engage with Israel in a way that is informed, biblical, and rooted in respect.

🌱 Zionism

A Jewish Response to Michael Knowles

Michael Knowles approaches Zionism through Christian theology, but Zionism is a Jewish return to Jewish history, land, and destiny—not a concept to be judged by Christian categories. He frames it as purely secular, yet that misses its heart. For the Jewish people, returning to Israel is not a break from faith, but an expression of it through history, land, and national rebirth
